Here’s short list of some upcoming sales and garden events
Saturday
Fred Meyer’s Fuchsia Planting Event — This very popular annual event in its 22nd year has extended hours this year, 7 a.m.-4 p.m. You buy fuchsia and other starts and a container — or bring your own container — and Fred Meyer employees will plant them for free with premium Black Gold potting soil. Fuchsia and geranium starts are on sale (five for $3) and containers are, too (buy one, get one half price). All area Fred Meyer stores, fredmeyer.com.
GardenPalooza – This one-day garden and farm festival, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. at Fir Point Farms in Aurora, features garden products and plants from 40 local nurseries along with a country market, food and farm animals. April 20-22
Friends of Bush Gardens Spring Plant Sale — This 29th annual plant sale is worth the trip to Bush Gardens in Salem. In addition to lots of plants, this year’s event includes a rhododendron flower show and a chance to see the rhododendron garden. April 28
Green Gardening Fair and Spring Native Plant Sale — Learn sustainable gardening techniques and buy native trees, shrubs and perennials. Proceeds fund park improvements and environmental programs. 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Tualatin Hills Nature Park Interpretive Center, 15655 S.W. Millikan Way, Beaverton, 503-629-6350, thprd.org.
Yamhill County Master Gardener Plant Fair and Sale — Plants, shrubs and trees from local vendors and master gardeners are for sale. Proceeds support horticulture education in the county. Free help clinic and free soil pH testing. 9 a.m.-3 p.m., Yamhill County Fairgrounds, 2070 N.E. Lafayette Ave., McMinnville.
Wilsonville Garden Club Plant Sale – Annuals, perennials, fuchsia baskets, divisions from members’ gardens. Proceeds fund a Clackamas Community College horticulture scholarship. 9 a.m.-2 p.m., Wilsonville Public Library, 8200 S.W. Wilsonville Road, Wilsonville, wilsonvillegardenclub.org.
Aloha Garden Club Plant Sale and Garden Faire — Perennials, trees and shrubs donated from members’ gardens. 9 a.m.-2 p.m., Aloha-Huber Park School, 5000 S.W. 173rd Ave., Aloha.
Lake Grove Garden Club Plant Sale – Natives, vegetable starts, shrubs, hanging baskets and more. 9 a.m.-1 p.m., Wizer’s Oswego Foods, 330 First St. Lake Oswego.
May 5-6
Clackamas County Master Gardeners Spring Garden Fair – This giant granddaddy of spring garden events with more than 200 vendors is a spring tradition. In addition to great plants and garden gear at excellent prices, you’ll find a plant check where you can hold your plants until you drive up to take them home, a potting station with free potting soil, plant taxi service with students working for tips and donations as a school fundraiser, the ongoing 10-Minute University on garden topics, food and lots more.
